special training that enables them to protect themselves

from psychological injury. This ability is considered to be an

essential set of skills to keep people functional on the job

and able to continue their private lives within their own

communities. The training triggers a change from mono-

or multi-cultural to cross-cultural and with it the ability to

design a personal mosaic of cultures that allows at the same

time openness and self-protection.

We ask that all nursing personnel receive ‘cross-culture

training’ because their workplace is multi-cultural at all

levels: colleagues, physicians and patients.
