Menopause high impact factor journals are defined as the cessation of menstrual periods for at least 12 consecutive months and not due to physiologic (e.g., lactation) or pathologic causes. It is estimated that there are 57 million women in the United States that are at least 45 years of age; approximately 6,000 of these women reach menopause every day. The cessation of menstrual periods is often associated with a variety of unpleasant symptoms, including anxiety, depression, decreased libido, vaginal dryness, insomnia, difficulty concentrating, and vasomotor symptoms (hot flashes and night sweats). These symptoms may last years after the menopause transition.A study by Berecki-Gisolf (2009) demonstrated that many symptoms persisted 7 years after the cessation of their menstrual periods.
