Functional Foods
Functional foods are nutriments that have a potentially positive effect on health beyond basic nutrition. Supporters of functional foods say they promote of the optimal health and help to reduce the risk of disease. A familiar instance of a functional food is oatmeal because it contains soluble fiber that can be help lower cholesterol levels. Certain foods are modified to have health benefits. An example is orange juice that's been encouraged with calcium for bone health. The Food and Drug Administration controls to the rights that manufacturers can be make about functional foods' nutrient content and effects on disease, health or body function. If you want to try functional foods, select wisely. And retain in mind that though functional foods may be help promote wellness, they can't make up for poor eating habits.
