Birth is the act or process of bearing or procreating offspring also referred to as parturition in technical contexts. In mammals the process is initiated by hormones that cause the uterus' muscle walls to contract, expelling the fetus when it is ready to feed and breathe at a developmental stage.The offspring is precocial in some species and can travel almost immediately after birth, but in others it is altral and fully dependent on parenting. Among marsupials, after a brief gestational period, the fetus is born at a very premature stage and grows further into the pouch of his mother's womb. It’s not just mammals who give birth. Some reptiles, amphibians , fish, and invertebrates bring within them their developing young.
