Pseudolysin (elastase B): a protagonist in the pseudomonas aeruginosa pathogenesis.
Post-Graduate Program in Biochemistry, Institute of Chemistry, Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine
Biography:
postgraduation in pathology and laboratory medicine Over the past nine years, I have been focused on discovery and development of novel antimicrobial therapeutic strategy, studying new molecules with antimicrobial and anti-virulence activity against Gram-negative bacteria. My recent work has been investigating the effects of phenanthroline-based coordination compounds on crucial physiopathological events of Gram-negative bacteria. Also, I have been focused on virulence attributes produced by P. aeruginosa, especially elastase B, as an attractive target for the development to anti-virulence therapy.
Subjects of specialization: Biochemistry, pathology, laboratory medicine
