Carbohydrates are broken down into glucose, fats into fatty acids, and proteins into amino acids, all of which contribute to ATP synthesis through processes like glycolysis, beta-oxidation, and the citric acid cycle [2].
As the body's preferred energy source, carbohydrates play a crucial role in fueling various physiological activities, including muscle contractions and brain function. Glucose, derived from carbohydrates, is readily available for immediate energy needs or stored in the form of glycogen in the liver and muscles for future use.
