Carbohydrates have profound implications for various health outcomes, including weight management, metabolic health, cardiovascular disease risk, and more. Blood Sugar Imbalance: Refined carbohydrates, such as white bread, sugary snacks, and sweetened beverages, are quickly digested and absorbed, leading to rapid spikes in blood sugar levels. Over time, frequent blood sugar spikes can contribute to insulin resistance, impaired glucose tolerance, and an increased risk of type 2 diabetes.

Weight Gain: High-glycemic carbohydrates can disrupt appetite regulation and promote overeating, leading to weight gain and obesity. They provide a rapid but short-lived energy boost, often followed by hunger and cravings, which can contribute to a cycle of excessive calorie intake [3].

Metabolic Syndrome: Excessive consumption of refined carbohydrates is associated with an increased risk of metabolic syndrome, a cluster of conditions including abdominal obesity, high blood pressure, high blood sugar, and abnormal lipid levels.
