Fiber is an essential component of a healthy diet, playing a critical role in digestive health, weight management, and overall well-being. It is categorized into two main types: soluble and insoluble fiber, each offering unique benefits [1].

Soluble fiber dissolves in water and forms a gel-like substance in the digestive tract. It can help lower cholesterol levels, stabilize blood sugar, and promote feelings of fullness, making it beneficial for weight management. Common sources of soluble fiber include oats, legumes, fruits, and some vegetables. Insoluble fiber, on the other hand, does not dissolve in water and adds bulk to stool, aiding in regular bowel movements and preventing constipation. It is found in whole grains, nuts, seeds, and the skins of many fruits and vegetables [2].

Digestive Problems: Low fiber intake is often linked to digestive issues such as constipation, diverticulosis, and Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS). Insufficient fiber can result in slower bowel movements and increased straining. Weight Gain: A diet low in fiber may lead to increased hunger and overeating, as fiber-rich foods promote satiety. This can contribute to weight gain and associated health risks, such as obesity and metabolic syndrome.
