Introduction
In the quest to reduce food waste and extend the shelf life of fresh produce, biopolymer edible coatings have emerged as a promising solution. These coatings, derived from natural, biodegradable polymers, offer an eco-friendly alternative to traditional preservatives and packaging methods. By applying biopolymer coatings to fruits and vegetables, we can significantly improve their longevity, maintain their quality, and contribute to more sustainable food systems [1].
In the quest to reduce food waste and extend the shelf life of fresh produce, biopolymer edible coatings have emerged as a promising solution. These coatings, derived from natural, biodegradable polymers, offer an eco-friendly alternative to traditional preservatives and packaging methods. By applying biopolymer coatings to fruits and vegetables, we can significantly improve their longevity, maintain their quality, and contribute to more sustainable food systems [2].
