Quantification of Treponema denticola expression in periodontitis patients with and without diabetes mellitus - a PCR based study.
Periodontitis is a multifactorial infectious disease of the supporting and surrounding tissues of the teeth. The red complex bacteria which include Porphyromonas gingivalis, Tannerella forsythia and Treponema denticola are known to be important causative agents for periodontitis. This study aims to evaluate and compare the expression of Treponema denticola in periodontitis patients with and without diabetes mellitus.
