Neuropathic pain syndromes nerve-related pain
Neuropathic pain syndromes represent a challenging and often debilitating category of chronic pain conditions that arise from dysfunction or damage to the nervous system. Unlike nociceptive pain, which results from tissue damage or inflammation, neuropathic pain originates from abnormal processing of sensory signals within the nervous system. Neuropathic pain is thought to involve aberrant signalling within the nervous system, including sensitization of peripheral nerves, changes in neurotransmitter release, and alterations in the processing of pain signals within the spinal cord and brain.
