Heritable susceptibility to acute lymphoblastic leukemia
The detection of recurrent genetic abnormalities has helped to improve individual prognosis and direct management. Traditionally, risk categorization has been focused on clinical criteria such as age, white blood cell count, and response to chemotherapy. Despite improvements in care, allogeneic stem cell transplantation combined with multi-agent chemotherapy, including vincristine, corticosteroids, and an anthracycline, remains the cornerstone of therapy for qualified patients.
