The Allied Academies Call for the Fall 2011
International Conference In Las Vegas

The Allied Academies will hold its Fall 2011 meeting in Las Vegas, Nevada. Presentation dates will be Wednesday October 12 through Friday October 14, 2011.  Conference Submissions and registration materials are due by September 5.  Base registration, on or before September 5, is $300, late registration after that date will be $350.  To provide you with maximum outlets for your research, the Allied Academies will hold joint meetings of all its member academies:

All submissions are handled electronically, through our website. Please note that participants may choose their presentation times when they register. Further, participants who cannot attend physically may choose to participate via the Internet Division. This will enable you to participate at your leisure during the two week period surrounding the conference.

All papers accepted for presentation at the Conference will be published in the appropriate Proceedings. All of the articles submitted for journal and award consideration are eligible for the Accelerated Review Process, which is a double blind peer review conducted by members of the appropriate journal Editorial Board. There is a 25% acceptance rate for these manuscripts, and approved papers will appear in the appropriate journal within a year of submission. In addition, the top 25% of the papers submitted for the conference will be recognized with a distinguished research award.

Workshops

At this meeting, Jim and JoAnn Carland will be offering two workshops on Wednesday, October 12. The workshops are only open to conference registrants and must be paid for when you register for the conference (price is $25 per workshop). You can learn more about the Drs. Case Writing Workshop

There has been a growing interest in the area of case writing, and the Journal of the International Academy for Case Studies is one of the fastest growing of the Journals affiliated with Allied Academies. One of the advantages to writing cases is that you receive credit for two publications for each case you write – one for the case itself, and one for the instructor’s note, which is published in a separate issue. Having co-founded more than a dozen companies, taught several thousand students and consulted with several hundred entrepreneurs, Jim and JoAnn have a vast array of knowledge on how real life situations can be turned into learning opportunities in the classroom. In this workshop they will share this knowledge as well as the technical aspects of case writing.

Publish or Perish Workshop

The subject of this workshop is getting your research published. Jim and JoAnn became academics in 1982 and immediately became involved with research and publications. Over the years they have written more than a dozen books, published more than 70 articles in scholarly journals and more than 200 papers in proceedings. In this workshop they will share what they have learned in their 30 years of research experience, and show you how to publish rather than perish.
